Inspections of Kansai Electric's Nuclear Power Plants in Relation to the Fracture of Secondary System Piping at the Mihama Unit 3

Following the accident at the Mihama Nuclear Power Station Unit 3 caused by the fracture of secondary system piping, the Kansai Electric Power Co., Inc (Kansai Electric) was today requested by the Fukui Prefectural Government to shut down all of its nuclear power plants in a systematic manner in order to directly check the integrities of the portions of their systems which are similar to the region that caused the accident on the other day.

In response to the request, Kansai Electric has decided to sequentially shut down all of its operating nuclear power plants in a carefully planned manner to perform such inspections on the relevant regions.

Kansai Electric is determined to exert all-out efforts toward further investigations to seek the causes of the accident.
