Research & Development Information
Activities of R&D Center
We have been applying advanced analytical technologies with X-ray including synchrotron radiation, neutron, Raman and IR spectroscopy, NMR, and the like to the development of materials such as catalysts, battery electrodes, gas turbine blades and CO2 solvents.
Stress measurement of solid oxide fuel cells in SPring-8,
the largest synchrotron radiation facility in the world
Molecular structure of CO2 solvent, monoethanolamine aqueous solution
Computational Material Science
We are striving to elucidate the mechanisms of phenomena that occur in materials in the fields of battery technology, catalytic chemistry, and solution chemistry, using techniques of computational science based on quantum theory.
We have prepared catalysts for selective catalytic reduction of NO, steam reforming and sift reaction, for example, and investigated their character and performance.

X-ray diffractometer (XRD) for physical characterization
Materials Research for Electrochemical Devices
We focus on materials used for electrochemical devices including secondary batteries and fuel cells that will be used for energy storage and generation on a large scale in the near future. To select the most suitable devices for the energy use, we are conducting comprehensive research on electrode active materials and solid electrolytes from synthesis of material particles, characterization with various analytical techniques to charge-discharge evaluation of the test cells.
