About fuel
- How long are oil and coal expected to last ?
Remaining lifespan of natural resources such as petroleum and coal expressed in term of years, is called “Reserves to Production Ratio(RPR)”.
RPR is calculated by dividing proven reserves, amount of resource known to exist in an area and to be economically recoverable, at the end of year by the production in that year. Therefore, RPR may change if the proven reserves increase due to certain reasons such as technological advance.
