Remote monitoring service for thermal power plants using IoT

Support for optimized plant operation based on years of experience in the power generation business

In September 2017, we launched a remote monitoring service, provided through our Remote Monitoring Center. This service is a total solution for power generation providers, based on technology and expertise accumulated from our nearly seven decades of operating experience, and includes anomaly detection, performance management, and condition monitoring.

Kansai Electric Power has adopted the OSIsoft* PI System** to centralize the collection, storage, and visual rendering of a wide range of power plant operating parameters. We also receive and store operating data from remotely-located thermal power plants in real time, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

At our Remote Monitoring Center, technicians with extensive experience in plant operation and maintenance monitor operating data behavior and trends, conduct detailed analyses and issue regular reports, and provide inspection and maintenance proposals as appropriate.

In addition, when anomalies are detected, we can provide guidance for initial response, analyze root causes, and propose appropriate measures to prevent recurrence.

*A leading global provider of IoT data management software for companies

**PI System collects sensor data from industrial equipment and process systems and utilizes it to generate visual representations of plant operation. The system has been adopted in more than 20,000 factories and plants in over 140 countries.
Kansai Electric Power is the first Japanese power company to adopt the system.

POINT
