Myanmar:
Support for the formulation of national electricity master plan and capacity development of O&M in Myanmar

Contributing to safe and stable electric power supplies for Myanmar

Responding to the rapidly expanding demand for electric power that has accompanied its economic growth has been a challenge for the Southeast Asian nation of Myanmar.

By assessing the development potential for new electrical power sources, including the fuel supply-demand balance and environmental impact, we supported the formulation of an electric power development plan, and transferred technology for future updates of the plan. Moreover, we are transferring technology used in the management of operation and maintenance (O&M) for Myanmar’s power generation plants.

Our accumulated knowhow in power plant management and operation will help Myanmar to stabilize domestic electric power supplies and develop economy.

Kansai Electric Power was entrusted with these projects, titled “Project for Capacity Development of Power Sector Development Planning in the Republic of the Union of Myanmar” and “Data Collection Survey on the Maintenance of Power Plants Using State-of-the-Art Technology such as IoT and AI in the Republic of the Union of Myanmar,” by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).
